Don't worry about frame rate.
Poses are far more important for animation.
Worry about poses before smooth animation.
It's not the frame rate but how you draw it.
24 frames per second is just fine.
I know that increasing the frames does nothing its all about your squash and strech and timing im learning.

I'm not surprised about the length of time for production.

Nothing against tweening I animate in 2s and 3s but I think frame by frame looks way better and way more alive.
